Flavia
lost 4-6 3-6 to #5 seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in the final of
Palermo.
After the match, Flavia said: "I want to congratulate Kaia.
She played a fantastic match. Now I'm going to prepare for the
hardcourt season coming up. I am hoping I can defend my results
from last year." |

Flavia
had a dominating 6-0 6-4 win over the #8 seed, Julia Goerges of
Germany to reach the final in Palermo . Flavia won the first
eight games of the match before Goerges finally got on the
board, but Flavia was too strong - she broke one last time for a
5-4 second set lead and served it out at 15, hitting two aces in
the process.
After the win, Flavia said:
"Tomorrow will be my second final in a row here and I
hope to win again like last year. I like Palermo a lot.
It helps me prepare or the hardcourt season - I'm playing in San
Diego in the coming weeks."
In the final, Flavia will play #5 seed Kaia Kanepi of Estonia,
they have played 5 times before and Flavia leads the series 3-2. |

Flavia scored a 6-4 6-2 win over Nuria Llagostera Vives in
the feature night match to advance to the semis in Palermo.
Flavia saved her first ace of the match for match point.
In the semis
Flavia will face #8 seed Julia Goerges of Germany on Saturday.

Flavia won her seventh match in a row in Palermo under the
lights as she crushed Renata Voracova of the Czech Republic 6-0
6-3. It looked even more crushing as Flavia raced out to a 6-0
5-0 lead, but the defending champion lost her serve at love at
that point, the first of three games in a row that went to
Voracova; Flavia closed it out in the next game to move into the
quarterfinals
Next up for Flavia is qualifier Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain,
they have played 4 times before and Flavia leads the series 4-0. |
Flavia wins
first match in Palermo

Flavia
was in top form in the first match of her title defense in
Palermo on Tuesday, cruising past Kathrin Woerle of Germany 6-3
6-1.
Flavia, who won this title last year without losing a set and is
the No.1 seed this year, won a routine first set then dropped
just 10 points in a 25-minute second set for a one-hour,
three-minute win over the 148th-ranked Woerle.
After the win Flavia said: "It was really hot today, so I'm
happy I was able to win quickly. Playing in Palermo is
fantastic for me for a lot of reasons. In particular the
supporters have always been fantastic to me." |

The
draw for the Internazionali Femminili di Tennis di Palermo in
Palermo, Italy has been released and Flavia is the top seed and
will play Kathin Woerle of Germany in the 1st round.
Flavia has never played the German before. The 1st seed
Flavia can meet is #6 seed Shuai Peng of China in the quarters.
Palermo is Flavia's final event on European clay before the
hardcourt season in the US starts in August.

Flavia
won the 10th doubles title of her career and the 4th of the year
at the Collector Swedish Open in Bastad. Flavia and Gisela
Dulko of Argentina
defeated
Renata Voracova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech
Republic 7-6 6-0 to defend their title from last year.

Flavia loses to
her doubles partner in Bastad

Flavia's
Bastad singles campaign is over as she lost 3-6 1-6 to #4 seed
Gisela Dulko of Argentina in the semis.
In the doubles, Flavia and Dulko are in the final after
defeating #4 seeds Nathalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova 6-2
6-1. In the final to be played on Saturday, they will play
#2 seeds
Renata Voracova and Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech
Republic. |
Flavia into the
semis in Bastad

It
took Flavia exactly 2 hours to grind out a 6-4 6-4 victory over
Jill Craybas of the United States to advance to the semis of the
Collector Swedish Open in Bastad.
Flavia will be back in action on Friday against her doubles
partner #4 seed Gisela Dulko of Argentina. They have
played 5 times before and Dulko leads 3-2. Dulko has won
the only 2 matches that they have played on clay. The
match will begin at 12.00 local time on Center Court and after
the other semi they will team up to play in doubles. |

Flavia
dropped only 2 games on her way to the quarters at the Collector
Swedish Open in Bastad. Flavia defeated Sloane Stephens of
the United States 6-1 6-1.
In the quarters to be played on Thursday, Flavia will play Jill
Craybas of the United States. Flavia has played Craybas 3
times before and leads the series 3-0. |

little time in Bastad

Flavia
was on court for only 47 minutes in her 1st round match at the
Collector Swedish Open in Bastad. Flavia defeated wildcard
Anna Brazhnikova of Sweden 6-2 6-0.
Flavia will play another wildcard in the 2nd round: Sloane
Stephens of the United States. Flavia has never played
Stephens before. |
